Living Through a Depression
Are we living through a recession, or a depression? I believe we’re in another depression era, but the mainstream press won’t admit it. They don’t want people to be alarmed. However, so many of us have lost jobs, or are small business owners dealing with reduced profits, that it has become obvious. There are too many people out of work! Even AdSense profits are down right now… though I’m sure they’ll be back before long. I continue to keep the faith!
New Content Writing Opportunities
Are you a writer who likes to write about writing? I’m accepting new submissions at Perspectives on Writing. Compensation includes use of your own AdSense publisher number on the site, and the ability to place three links to your other sites or web articles in the resource box at the foot of the article you contribute.
A New Content Writing and Editing Blog
I’ve started a new blog for helping content writers and editors: Write Web Now. You might notice, I’m offering my skills as a content writer and editor, and plan to include a few friends as well.
My First Novel to be Published
I’ve been writing novels since 2000, and have two completely finished including multiple passes at editing. I’m exited to be announcing the first to be published is about a young girl moving to Happy Camp around 1920: River Girl… soon to be published by Lifesong Press.
How to Use a Business Card Effectively
Small business owners benefit by networking, business cards in hand. Always ask others for their cards, and write notes on the back about where you met the person and any follow-up actions you may want to take. Then offer your card. If this is a special contact you might want to write your private number or cell phone number on the back of the card.
If you’re ordering business cards (I get mine from VistaPrint) give a lot of thought to what you want to put on the back. You could use your business card as a coupon for a discount on your products or services, or place a tip sheet on the back that people will want to keep and use again and again.
An Online To-Do List on a Spreadsheet
If you spend a lot of your time online, you might like this free online to-do list on a spreadsheet. I find it very helpful!
Tax Deductions
In my last newsletter I bemoaned my tax burden! Sorry! I spent about two weeks educating myself about tax deductions and then saved a lot of money by verifying expenses and using them to cut down that tax payment considerably. What a relief! I worried that I might have to make payments this year, but no, I managed to make only one payment and be done with it. I’m grateful for that!
…
Until next time!
Linda
